Directions for Completing the Overload Petition Form
1. Fill out the form completely when requesting to take more than 19 credits in one semester.
2. Provide a detailed rationale to support your request. Overloads are strongly discouraged for students whose cumulative GPA is below 3.0. If your GPA is below a 3.00, you must provide a strong case for the overload.
3. Your advisor will be notified of your petition and will need to forward their approval to the Registrar's Office. (Please note that the advisor does have the right to deny your petition.)
4. Your petition will be reviewed by the Petition Committee at their weekly meeting.
5. You will be notified of the decision for your petition within 2 business days of the scheduled Petition Committee meeting. At that time, you will receive further instructions on how to register for you remaining courses.
6. Students registering for more than 19 credits are charged an overload fee of $260.00 per credit (contact the Registrar's Office for details).
